Into the Mystic: Spain Yoga Retreat
June 24-July 1, 2018
In the southernmost region of Spain lies UNESCO-protected Grazalema Nature Reserve, home to 5,000-year-old ruins, wild goats, carob trees, and the setting for our latest retreat with senior Bala Yoga instructor, Greta Hill. Together, we will embark on a heart opening adventure through Andalusia, “the land of light,” in pursuit of that which fulfills and nourishes our spirits on a deep soul level. Greta will lead us through daily practices and workshops steeped in yoga and Ayurvedic wisdom; returning to the natural rhythms and cycles of nature, remembering the deep intuition of the body, and building better habits for daily living.

Three whitewashed villages serve as gateways to our yoga retreat center. Zahara de la Sierra is one of Andalusia’s most striking villages, sashaying up a craggy, castle-topped peak in the park’s northern reaches and just 30 minutes away by car. The second, El Gastor, also known as the Balcony of the Andalusian White Villages, is a charming small town, just fifteen minutes from our retreat center by foot. The third, Ronda, sits atop the spectacular El Tajo gorge and is the largest of Andalusia’s towns. Modern bullfighting was practically invented here in the late 18th century, and the town’s fame was spread further by American literary figures Ernest Hemingway and Orson Welles who spent much time within the town limits of Ronda and southern Spain.
The retreat center itself, sits within Grazalema National Park, at the base of great buttresses of rock silhouetted against the clouds and soaring above a forested landscape tinged with greens, yellows, and deep rusty reds.
On retreat, I will offer yoga and meditation classes daily. My teaching is soulful and filled with myth, mantra, mudra, meditation, and an overwhelming sense of passion. These Rasa classes are a bhakti fusion of form and flow that will connect you to source and open your heart. All experience levels are welcome to join, and all yoga and meditation classes are completely optional. I aim to meet students where they are, allowing you to be seen, and bringing you into the collective energy and flow of the group.
Our meals will be prepared in-house by our resident chef, and served family style. The retreat center offers bright, nutritious vegetarian meals full of local produce and mediterranean specialties. Many of the dishes we will eat draw on Ayurvedic recipes and principles for optimal health and healing. While all meals are provided, there will also be opportunity to dine out and experience the local food scene if you’d like. All rooms are outfitted with a mini fridge and most have a kitchenette for those that wish to pick up additional snacks and refreshments in town.

The property is complete with a beautiful yoga studio, private tennis court, and magnificent hiking trails.
